ISLAMABAD: At least 6,432 cases of human rights violations were registered in the country during the moths of May and June this year. According to the data provided by the inspector general police provincial offices, 1,924 cases were registered in Sindh, 291 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 4,217 in Punjab, while the data from Balochistan has not been received. The nature of the cases includes murder, honour killing, kidnapping, rioting, torture and sexual assault, official sources Human Rights Ministry said. They number of persons arrested in the said cases are 9,312 including 1,154 in Sindh, 264 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 4,524 in Punjab. At least 277 murder cases were reported in Sindh and 112 accused were arrested in such cases, 20 cases of honour killing were also reported among which nine suspects were arrested. Meanwhile, 130 cases of grievances hits were registered among which 76 accused were arrested, while 355 cases of simple hits were registered and 215 suspects were arrested. Also 522 cases of rioting with 325 arrests, 44 cases of sexual assault with 20 arrests, 571 cases of abduction with 397 arrests and 14 cases of suicide were registered. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwaa, 291 cases were registered among which 155 cases are under investigation, challans of 136 were submitted, while 136 were still pending in courts.
