MIRPUR: Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has accused Ch Muhammad Ashraf, a Pakistan People’s Party candidate from Mirpur city LA-III constituency, of skipping off the electoral battle after a heavy vested financial deal with rival candidate Barrister Sultan Mahmood, a former prime minister and candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from the same constituency.
“Ashraf has made treachery with PPP blatantly by boycotting the elections from Mirpur city constituency in favour of Sultan Mahmood mere after taking a huge chunk of amount from the PTI candidate through reaching in a financial deal,” he said in an official statement issued here on Saturday evening.
“Pakistan People’s Party strongly condemns this immoral act of Ashraf mere at the eleventh hours,” he said in a strongly-worded statement. “There is no place of rebels in the PPP,” he said and announced that his party would definitely contest the election from the same LA-III constituency and the name of the party’s candidate will be announced by Sunday.
The Kashmiri prime minister accused Ashraf of resorting to a severe damage to the trust of the party leadership after reaching into a hidden alliance with Sultan Mahmood through the mega financial deal. “Those who betrayed the leadership of the party (PPP), would always seek for power throughout their life,” he said.
As reportedly earlier, Chaudhry Ashraf had announced to boycott the scheduled July 21 general elections from the platform of his party as a protest against the absolute hostile, negative, hypocritical and insincere behaviour of the prime minister towards him as well as his election campaign in the constituency.
